Set in Hebron, at Abraham's resting place, this is the only piece of the Jerusalem sacred series that falls outside of the city and features a man. This image highlights the significance of the union between man and woman, the centrality of this institution for both organised religion and patriarchal society, an arrangement that has been necessary for men to establish authority and social order, but an institution that historically failed to recognise the rights of women, relegating her mothering and denouncing her voice from leadership positions.

Inside a temple split in two, within the Palestinian and Jewish territories, lived this ancient relic of our shared historical narrative, the great father of monotheism who binds us to love and war. Represented here in the love between man and woman are the memory of the wives who bore the tribes of Israeli and Arab nations - the brothers who were town apart by jealousy, envy, fear and injustice.
